Malaysian Dish: Laksa

Searching for Laksa

A good laksa for me must have good depth of flavour without being too oily. I'm a fan of chicken laksa, seafood laksa and assam laksa. It's probably not the healthiest of dishes but on a cold day it's great comfort food. Service turnaround tends to be pretty quick due to the laksa being pre made and it's always nice when it's served in a decent sized bowl with good quality ingredients. I've consistently enjoyed the laksa at Malay-Chinese Takeaway in Sydney which seems to be what most people order there. Their assam laksa is only made once every 5 weeks which is one of the best I've found in Sydney so far.

Wow, very comprehensive laksa list! One question, do you reckon any of those places would serve me laksa with no noodles?

Good list of laksa! But seriously I have switched to the prima laksa la mian since I found it at the Asian grocery stores. Really good! Of cos mom's laksa still the best but this instant version (7mins) is a good substitute.

hi gaby, i reckon any place will serve you a laksa without noodles although they might still charge you full price?

hi eve, i'll have to check out this instant laksa you speak of. i have my doubts though but I'm open minded.

Hi Simon,

Try the laksa at David's Tea House at the Telstra Building food court (324 Pitt Street, tucked away at the end of the food court). Personally, I think the laksa has better flavour than Malay-Chinese take away. You can even get a Hainan chicken - laksa combination for under $10. Great food and good value.

Regards

Hey Simon, just giving you a heads up that Laksa House at Kingsford (next to the roundabout) serves some awesome laksa, not to mention the best singapore chilli crab I've ever tasted! =]

Very comprehensive list of laksa. I'm a laksa fan and the best malaysian laksa or also known as curry mee without the cockles and pig's blood jelly is To's Malaysian in North Sydney. You should try there. 😊

hi Anonymous, thanks for the tip. did you know that the original owners of To's are now in the city and called ito's. they're located in the foodbase foodcourt. i've been to To's when they used to be there a few years ago :-)
