New Pork Katsu on the block

Farewell Brooklyn Hide and hello dreams of dining on a ping pong table. Interesting and tough choices on the breakfast menu between the French Toast with shiso plum jam, poached persimmon and plum wine syrup or the All The Eggs on Rye with whipped cod roe, flying fish caviar and pickled ginger. Will have to revisit but for lunch I tried the Pork Katsu Sando with apple fennel cabbage slaw, mustard mayo & tonkatsu sauce ($14 on menu, $12 on bill). I liked the flavour combo and chunky thick slice of pork. I'd definitely recommend dining in rather than the takeaway though because the plastic lid seals in the heat of the pork katsu which then starts to sweat inside causing the bread to take on the moisture and the lotus chips start to lose their crisp. Or maybe avoid a lid so it can breathe better in transit. Lamb kebab with tomato, salad, preserved yuzu, bbq sauce & shichimi yoghurt ($14) was smallish in size but makes up for it in flavour sealed in a nice soft wrap. Hungry appetites might not be satisfied. A couple of large fatty bits were found in the tender pulled lamb but hopefully most are served with more of the tasty meat.
