Deli Choice Malaysian & Chinese Bistro: CBD Sydney (2 June 2009)

This very oddly named cheap and cheerful chinese restaurant is the only one I can think of that's open for a quick late night chinese/malaysian meal around the Martin Place/Elizabeth Street area of the town without venturing further towards Haymarket and Chinatown. At 8.30 pm it's popular enough to have about 8-10 people still eating and ordering takeaway before it closes. As I wait for my meal to be cooked I amuse myself by perusing the menu for spelling mistakes, check out the cutesy cutlery holders and notice the tacky powered objects and dodgy looking cabling under the front wall ledge.

The dining area is clean and simple and my chicken and vegetables dish is tasty enough and quickly fills the stomach before heading home. In the past I've also had the Wonton Noodle Soup which I remember was quite large and satisfying and the Combination Noodles and Spring Rolls which were pretty decent as takeaway to eat at the Night Noodle Markets.

Other visits to Deli Choice:
20 April 2010 - Crispy Chicken Noodle Soup
16 April 2010 - Combination Long and Short Soup
2 June 2009 - Chicken and vegetables, Wonton Noodle Soup, Spring rolls, Combination Noodles

Chicken and vegetables with rice $9.80

Ah I've spotted that place before but never thought to venture in. Looks just as you described it - cheap and cheerful, but I figure, real estate is so expensive there so the food must be good if it's still there right?

Hehe at Seadood! Good to know there's somewhere in that area for something late at night. BTW speaking of spelling, I saw a typo on your column, it's "whet your appetite" not "wet your appetite" :)
