Vini: Italian, Surry Hills (27 March 2009)

The decor and atmosphere of this popular restaurant is very cosy and our table waiter was friendly and helpful in explaining the menu items. The highlights for me were the swordfish crostini, ricotta pannacotta dessert and the red house wine. But the main dishes didn't seem to grab me as much and the rotolo seemed to have a surprise kick of chilli throughout it — a bit too much though and wasn't even mentioned in the menu. I'd be interested to hear what over readers think about the food. Perhaps I need to revisit in the future. The menu seems to change depending on produce availability so I guess there's always something new to try on the menu.

Swordfish, eschallot and aoili crostini $6 (2 pieces)

Fig, salami and pickled turnip $6 (2 pieces)
